Dec 15, 2022 (newstodate): Finnair is now online with daily flights to Doha in cooperation with Qatar Airways from three Nordic capital airports.
Latest opening is the route from Helsinki, Finland, to Doha starting today, following on the opening of flights starting from November 1, 2022, from Copenhagen and Stockholm - all operated by Finnair.
In August 2022, Finnair entered a strategic partnership with its oneworld partner Qatar Airways for operations between the three Nordic capitals and Doha.
The agreement also opens up for Finnair and Qatar Airways to explore opening services between "another European destination" and Doha, which might tentatively indicate plans for adding Oslo to the program.
Qatar Airways launched flights from Qatar to Scandinavia with Stockholm as its first destination from November 27, 2007, adding flights from Qatar to Copenhagen from March 30, 2010, and between Qatar and Oslo from October 5, 2011, rounding off in the Nordic region with flights to Helsinki, Finland, from October 10, 2016.
Starting from December 12, 2018, the carrier also launched five weekly rotations with Boeing 787-8 aircraft on the route from Doha Hamad International Airport to Gothenburg - but flights on this route were suspended as the Covid-19 struck.
On the passenger side, Finnair is selling some 20 percent of the capacity, while the cooperation between the two parties does not comprise air cargo.
Qatar Airways Cargo will thus be selling the full cargo capacity through its existing GSSA in the Nordic markets, NordicGSA.
