Dec 12, 2022 (newstodate): Hit hard by the effects from Russia's war on Ukraine, including the closure of Russian airspace, and the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, Finnair is fighting to regain its breath through cost saving measures and new strategies.
Already in September 2022, the Finnair Group announced the need to cut some 200 job positions, mainly in Finland and primarily targeting the managerial level.
As just one example, Finnair will shut down its office in Sidney, Australia, with effect from January 1, 2023, leaving the carrier without an own sales force covering the markets of Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia.
Offline in Australia, Finnair is cooperating with Qantas and other airlines and code-sharing with other oneworld airlines.
