Dec 15, 2022 (newstodate): The Hungarian LCC Wizz Air keeps an eye on opening traffic between the Nordic/Baltic markets and Georgia.
   Already in 2019, the carrier announced the opening in the latter part of the year of six new routes connecting Georgia's Black Sea coast destination Kutaisi with European destinations, including Copenhagen in Denmark and Tallinn in Estonia.
   However, the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic put the brakes on the plans - that are still not off the table..
   At a recent press conference in Georgia, the carrier again confirmed its intentions to add new flights to the Scandinavian and Baltic countries, but this is unlikely to happen anytime soon; according to the company, the ongoing fighting in Ukraine is hindering the addition of the planned routes at this stage.
   Wizz Air was first mover to introduce low-cost traffic in the Georgian market by launching traffic on the route between Kiev and Kutaisi Kopitnari Airport from September 27, 2012.
   Starting from July 1, 2020, the carrier next planned to offer flights between Kutaisi and Tallinn and Vilnius, with two weekly rotations, with flights between Kutaisi and Riga to open from July 3, 2020, also with two weekly rotations.
   Plans for flights between Kutaisi and Copenhagen during summer 2020 were cancelled, and Wizz Air also shelved its plans for launching flights on its planned route between Kutaisi and Stockholm, scheduled for winter 2020/21, as were plans for adding flights in 2020 between Kutaisi and Helsinki.
