Dec 01, 2022 (newstodate): In April 2022, the state-owned company Lithuanian Airports opened a tender for a master plan analyzing and preparing for a long-term network development of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports - and now a winner has been announced.
The Dutch company Royal HaskoningDHV has won the contract to work out a 10-years master plan by analyzing the development potentials and alternatives of the three airports of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga, as well as focusing on the specific strengths of the individual airports, routes expansion, and increasing the capacity of the passenger and cargo terminals.
The contract with the Dutch consultant will now be signed, and a long-term network development plan will be prepared by the summer of 2023.
According to the current plan, Lithuanian Airports will be changed from a state-owned enterprise to a limited liability company before the end of this year, still with all shares held by the Lithuanian state.
Since July 1, 2014, all three state-owned international airports in Lithuania have been jointly managed by Lithuanian Airports Plc.
