Dec 06, 2022 (newstodate): DB Schenker is taking new steps to growing its position in Norway's air cargo industry at Oslo Airport.
On December 5, 2022, the company signed a contract with Avinor for space at Oslo Airport for construction of a new 4,000 m2 airfreight terminal.
One key focus for DB Schenker in Norway remains the seafood exports to the global marketplace, but this coming new terminal will rather aim at handling of all types of cargo on incoming and outgoing international flights.
With the planned new terminal, DB Schenker hopes to spur airlines to optimize the use of cargo space on incoming passenger aircraft for onward transfer of shipments by trucking to regional destinations rather than trucking cargo shipments from Europe into the region - thereby supporting the profitable operations of routes both into and out of Oslo. Ambitions are even to bolster the position of Oslo Airport as a Scandinavian airfreight hub
