Dec 08, 2022 (newstodate): Avinor has now decided to launch the construction of a new airport serving Bodo, in the north-western part of Norway.
In 2019, the Norwegian government gave its green lights for the start of a new airport project serving Bodo, replacing the existing Bodo Airport to support the increasing tourist traffic in the region as well as opening new facilities for cargo business serving the Norwegian seafood exporters.
The planned new airport will have an annual capacity of handling 2.5 million passengers, and operating a 2,500 m runway allowing for operations by all aircraft types and sizes.
As Avinor has now secured the funding of the project, detailed planning, tenders and design work can now commence, with ground-breaking to take place in 2024, while the airport is slated for opening in 2029.
