Nov 30, 2022 (newstodate): Icelandair has a strong position in the US-Europe market - growing further in 2023.
Starting from May 28, 2023, the carrier will add flights from Keflavik to Detroit Wayne County Airport in the USA, offering four weekly rotations with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
This will bring the number of points in North America served by Icelandair to 15.
While new on Icelandair's route map, Detroit was earlier served from Keflavik Airport by the low-cost carrier WOW Air from 2018, but for a while only; in March 2019 WOW Air folded its wings and entered bankruptcy.
