Nov 04, 2022 (newstodate): Outside the management by state-owned company Lithuanian Airports, the country's "fourth international airport" at Siauliai is determined to bolster its position in the air cargo market.
To boost these efforts, the airport has decided to open a new position as Siauliai Airport Commercial Manager Cargo to analyze market potentials and seek new air cargo business and customers.
Also in the plans for development of the cargo business, the airport will launch an auction before the end of the year to lease the last remaining plot of 2.3 hectares, allocated to cargo and logistics activities.
Earlier this year, the freight forwarding company Rava Cargo opened a neutral customs warehouse at the airport, becoming the first commercial cargo operator at Siauliai Airport.
A former Soviet air base, Siauliai Airport operates a 3,500 m CAT 1 runway - the longest in the Baltic region - and a second 3,280 m runway, and is a military/commercial airport owned jointly by Lithuania's Ministry of Defense and Siauliai Municipality.
