Nov 22, 2022 (newstodate) The Russians are coming - and they are most welcome in Turkey.
Allegedly for the first time, Moscow and Izmir will be connected by air as the Russian carrier Red Wings plans to launch non-stop flights on the route starting from December 23, 2022.
Flights will be performed on a weekly basis with Superjet 100 aircraft with a little more than five hours in the air.
Izmir is rated a key cultural destination in Turkey but has so far seen no direct flights from Russia - now being opened up for Russia that lacks access to many traditional international tourism destination under the current sanction regime.
