Nov 11, 2022 (newstodate): Norway's Oslo Airport noted another dip in cargo volumes in October 2022.
Counting only flown cargo at the airport, total volumes of cargo and mail were down by eight percent, y-o-y, to 10,790 tonnes in October, roughly unchanged against the preceding month, and bringing the January-October 2022 volumes to 103,168 tonnes, down 10 percent, y-o-y.
Constituting the bulk of the cargo, international freight was down six percent in October, to 10,243 tonnes, and to 97,480 tonnes in Jan-Oct '22, down nine percent.
On the positive side, National Air Cargo is now online at Oslo Airport with new freighter flights to China.
Planned as a one-off flight, National Air Cargo performed its first operation from Oslo to Tokyo Narita Airport on October 20, 2022, with capacity shared with Amsterdam, and providing Norwegian seafood exporters with the currently only direct non-stop freighter flight to the Japanese market.
So far, the service is, however, only operating one weekly flight scheduled till the end of November 2022.
