Nov 29, 2022 (newstodate): Bordering Ukraine and living through a troublesome period with threats and pressure from Russia, Moldova's civil aviation is hard hit.
Adding to the stream of bad news, the country's CAA has now ordered Air Moldova to suspend all marketing and sales of flights in summer 2023, and the carrier has also been ordered to submit a plan for correcting a list of financial deficiencies.
Moldova's CAA has publicly declared Air Moldova to be in danger of insolvency after years of successive losses and debts.
The accusations are, however, strongly reputed by the airline.
-The abuse on the part of the CAA is nothing more than active involvement in the destruction of Air Moldova in favor of other more "friendly" local air operators, says the airline on its website.
Set up in 1993, the carrier currently operates direct flights to destinations including St Petersburg, Krasnodar, Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Antalya, London, Dublin, Frankfurt, Paris, Nice, Lisbon, Rome, Milan, Verona, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Prague, Tbilisi and Sharm el Sheik.
In the fleet of Air Moldova are five Airbus A320 family aircraft
