Nov 16, 2022 (newstodate): With the third rotation today by Lufthansa Cargo's new freighter service at Norway's Harstad-Narvik/Evenes Airport, the company is finally issuing a release on the event.
With the maiden flight on November 2, 2022, the company is now offering one weekly rotation with Airbus A321F aircraft on the route between Frankfurt and Evenes, flying in with e-trade commodities and returning to Frankfurt with some 27 tonnes of Norwegian salmon for direct transfer to onward flights to Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo destinations in Asia and North America.
The freighter service is a joint project between the Norwegian salmon producer and exporter Nordlaks, the freight forwarder Salmosped and Lufthansa Cargo.
Long absent in the market, Lufthansa Cargo has thus finally entered the Norwegian seafood market to offer Norwegian seafood exporters in the northern regions the potentials of cutting delivery times to less than 24 hours, compared to four to six days including trucking into Oslo Airport.
So far, the flights are reportedly scheduled only till the end of this year, leaving open decisions on future operations.
