Nov 14, 2022 (newstodate): The Lithuanian charter and ACMI airline Heston Airlines is ready to go fully global - but one certificate is still pending..
So far, the carrier has been performing a number of charter flights to destinations in Asia, China and between Europe and North America - but is still required to apply for approval of flight plans, which is a time-consuming challenge in critical situations.
Heston Airlines is therefore eagerly awaiting the completion of the ongoing process for obtaining IOSA certification, earlier expected already in October - which did not happen...
-Our airline is now in the final stages of the IOSA certification process, and unless something unforeseen happens it is now a matter of a few weeks only, says Jonas Butautis, Heston Airlines member of the Board.
With IOSA certification, IATA's internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline, Heston Airlines will be fully capable of bidding on any wet-lease and ACMI tender requiring IOSA that is also a prerequisite for serving airline customers with code-share partners.
Set up in 2020 and landing its AOC on May 21, 2021, Heston Airlines based at Vilnius Airport currently operates a fleet comprising five Airbus A320 and three Airbus A330 aircraft.
