Nov 18, 2022 (newstodate): The Lithuanian charter and ACMI airline Heston Airlines is in the process of establishing a subsidiary "in disguise" in Malta.
Industry sources and media claim that the coming new offshoot is identical to another new venture, Valetta Air, poised to lift-off early 2023 with a focus on global charter and ACMI services.
Valetta Airlines will aim at providing services in markets including North and South Americas, Europe, Middle East and Far East Asia.
Heston Airlines is thus claimed to be behind Valetta Air's AOC and Operating License, expected to be granted in early 2023.
Valetta Air is planning for operating three Airbus A320-200 and two Airbus A330-200 before the end of 2023.
Speculations are that Valetta Airlines is poised to become the successor to the country's current national carrier, Air Malta, that is deep in financial mire and close to a crash landing with a fleet of seven Airbus A320 aircraft.
