Nov 04, 2022 (newstodate): The new Icelandic carrier, Niceair based at Akureyri, has seen good results in passenger volumes since the launch of services earlier this year, with over-all passenger load factors around 73 percent
The carrier performed its first commercial flight from Akureyri to Copenhagen Airport on June 2, 2022, but was forced to pull out from its scheduled routes from Akureyri to London Stansted and Manchester, planned for launch from June 3, 2022, but stalled after only one flight due to Brexit legal effects on air services by EU member state airlines.
Niceair then launched flights to Tenerife South starting from June 8, 2022, in a summer program that has now come to an end.
The carrier has now announced the opening of weekly flights on new routes from spring 2023, with flights from Akureyri to Alicante starting on April 11, and flights to Dusseldorf to be opened from May 6, 2023.
Niceair's flights are operated by the Portuguese ACMI and charter carrier HiFly allocating one of its two Airbus A319 aircraft to serve on Niceair's route network.
