Nov 23, 2022 (newstodate): Hopes to see Air India return services to Scandinavia early in 2023 have come true.
With the opening flight on March 1, 2023, the carrier will return services to Copenhagen Airport, offering three weekly rotations with Boeing 787-8 aircraft carrying up to 256 passengers plus cargo - not least Norwegian seafood - in the belly compartment.
Compared to the services offered before the Covid-19 pandemic, the flying time will now be eight to nine hours due to the closure of Russia's airspace.
Air India first launched flights between Delhi and Stockholm from August 15, 2017, and between Delhi and Copenhagen from September 16, 2017, both served by three weekly rotations using Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
However, in August 2020 Air India pulled out from both routes to Scandinavia as the Covid-19 closed down the markets, and so far Air India has not indicated any plans for reviving the flights to Stockholm.
In Copenhagen, Air India last signed SAS Group's handling subsidiary SGH for passenger handling, while WFS was the carrier's cargo handling partner.
