Nov 29, 2022 (newstodate): Work is still on track for launch of FarCargo, the coming new cargo airline on the Faroe Islands.
According to the company, FarCargo is now in the final stage of the procedures leading to delivery by early December of a converted Boeing 757-200 freighter aircraft that will be placed on the AOC of and operated by the Swedish cargo carrier West Atlantic Sweden, since 2019 owned by LUSAT Air S.L.
The aircraft will start out operating on a contract for cargo flights within Europe for a month or so, and flights from Vagar Airport to the first US destination, New York Newark Airport, will commence in January or February 2023 with an initial frequency of three to five monthly rotations from Vagar Airport, carrying Faroese seafood for the prime owner of the airline, Bakkafrost, that is the investor in the acquisition of the aircraft.
