Nov 18, 2022 (newstodate): Traditionally a seasonal migratory bird, the US carrier Delta Air Lines now seems to be intent on braving the cold and stay a bit longer at Copenhagen Airport.
At least according to Copenhagen Airport announcing that Delta Air Lines will remain online with services between New York and Copenhagen until January 8, 2023, with five weekly rotations on the route.
As the only carrier today offering direct flights between the two destinations, Delta Air Lines is operating with a Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
With the first flight on May 27, 2022, after a two-years Covid-19 pause, Delta has been offering daily rotations between New York JFK and Copenhagen Airport during the summer schedule.
Delta Air Lines has been serving the seasonal summer route to Copenhagen since the 1990ies - but with repeated suspensions and changes, and leaving the route from September 9, 2001, till it was reopened from May 1, 2006.
The route was last operated in 2019, prior to the Covid-19 suspension of air traffic.
On May 2, 2006, Delta Air Lines became the first airline to contract WFS for cargo handling at Copenhagen Airport, while cargo sales have been provided by ProActive Airlines Services as the carrier's GSSA since 2008.
Since June 2, 2015, ground handling services have been provided by Menzies.
