Nov 24, 2022 (newstodate): Icelandair has now moved all flights connecting Iceland and Greenland to Keflavik Airport.
So far, most of the carrier's Greenland-bound flights were based at Reykjavik Airport, close to the city center and requiring transfer passengers to move between Reykjavík Airport and Keflavik Airport - a distance of some 48 km on narrow roads.
As a result of the merger of Iceland's domestic carrier Air Iceland Connect and Icelandair taking effect from March 16, 2021, Icelandair's destinations in Greenland - Ilulissat, Kulusuk, Narsarsuaq, Nerlerit Inaat and Nuuk - would be relocated to Keflavik Airport.
In September 2021, Icelandair and Air Greenland entered a new interline agreement to expand cooperation between the two companies to connect Air Greenland’s extensive route network in Greenland and Icelandair’s international route network to Europe and North America.
So far, Icelandair has been operating flights from Reykjavik Airport to Narsarsuaq, Kangerlussuaq and Kulusuk, while flights have been operated by Icelandair from Keflavik Airport to Ilulissat and by both Icelandair and Air Greenland to Nuuk from Keflavik Airport.
