Oct 13, 2022 (newstodate): Responding to strong voices aired at the recent Seafood cargo conference in Oslo for direct freighter capacity to lift Norwegian seafood to Asia, Air Trade Support is now in the market with a new offer.
On October 20, 2022, ATS is thus offering Boeing 747-400F capacity from Oslo to Tokyo Narita Airport, operated by the US cargo carrier National Air Cargo flying in from its European hub at Amsterdam.
With capacity shared with Amsterdam, the new service will thus be the currently only direct non-stop freighter flight to lift fresh salmon to the Japanese market.
-This operation is planned as a one-off flight. But the airline has ambitions to test the Norwegian market, and if met by sufficient backing among exporters this initiative may lead to more flights being set up, says Petter Bjerknas, ATS Sales Manager Norway.
Today, much Norwegian salmon is trucked to Helsinki Airport for uplift on Finnair's and Japan Air Lines' flights to Tokyo.
