Oct 10, 2022 (newstodate): The Ukrainian carrier SkyUp Airlines is fighting to keep its fleet and crews in the air, focusing on the wet-lease markets.
So far, the airline has been successful in finding wet-lease customers in Europe, placing aircraft and crews with airlines including Wizz Air, airBaltic, Smartwings, Freebird Airlines, Corendon Airlines, Tailwind Airlines, and Air Albania.
However, as Europe is now at the end of the summer season, SkyUp Airlines is forced to seek customers in new markets for its aircraft during the winter schedule.
The carrier is thus turning its attention to South America to find wet-lease partners, while both Africa and Asia are also considered potential markets.
In August 2022, SkyUp Airlines took delivery of one more Boeing 737-800 aircraft, bringing the fleet to two Boeing 737-700 and nine Boeing 737-800.
