Oct 10, 2022 (newstodate): Maersk Air Cargo has now obtained the requested approval by the US DOT to amend and reissue Star Air's foreign air carrier permit in the company’s new legal name, Maersk Air Cargo.
Receiving no objections, DOT has concluded that the public interest warrants granting Maersk Air Cargo an amended foreign air carrier permit.
The carrier is thus now free to start operating cargo flights between the USA and EU under its own name, as was earlier the case for its predecessor Star Air.
The market is now awaiting news from Maersk Air Cargo about its start-up date from Billund Airport of flights.
In the first phase, and in addition to continuing serving Star Air's integrator customers in intra-European traffic, Maersk Air Cargo will operate three Boeing 767 freighters currently being converted from passenger versions to be based at Denmark's Billund Airport for cargo flights between Europe and China, adding two new ex-factory Boeing 777F aircraft in late 2024 dedicated to serving customers of Maersk Air Cargo.
