Oct 14, 2022 (newstodate): The Latvian ACMI and charter operator SmartLynx Airlines is again taking steps to fulfil its ambition to become the world's leading A321 converted freighter operator.
Member of the Avia Solutions Group, the carrier has entered a partnership with ACS, Aero Capital Solutions, covering sale lease-back of four Airbus A321 with ACS acting as a lessor and financier, while SmartLynx Malta will be operating the aircraft after cargo conversion by Precision Aircraft Solutions and Elbe Flugzeugwerke.
In May 2022, SmartLynx Airlines also signed up with Dutch aircraft lessor APOC Aviation to acquire four ex-Finnair Airbus A321 aircraft for conversion and entry into service early in 2023.
By the end of 2022, SmartLynx will have eight Airbus A321 converted freighters in the fleet. The additional freighters will bring SmartLynx’s fleet to a total of 15 active aircraft of this type by H1, 2023, with a plan to expand up to 20 by the end of the year.
