Oct 04, 2022 (newstodate): Turkish Airlines is planning for a return of flights to Afghanistan in spring 2023.
Suspended since the chaotic closure of the Afghan airports and airspace as the Taliban took over the country in August 2021, the carrier now plans to restart operations from March 2023.
The airline will reportedly open up its Afghan flights with one daily rotation connecting Istanbul and Kabul from March 27, 2023, and the program will next be expanded with three weekly rotations between Istanbul and Mazar-e-Sharif.
Serving Kabul Airport with international flights today are only the Iranian airlines Kish Air, Ariana and Kam Air.
