Oct 05, 2022 (newstodate): In September 2022, Finnair transported a total of 9,188 tonnes of cargo, roughly on a par with the preceding month, but down four percent, y-o-y.
Expectedly, volumes carried on the transatlantic lanes were up in September, reaching 2.374 tonnes and up 7.6 percent, y-o-y, while volumes on the Asian traffic were 4,777 tonnes and up 48.8 percent, y-o-y.
However, in January-September 2022 volumes carried on the transatlantic routes were up by 307 percent, y-o-y, while volumes in the Asian traffic increased by 71.7 percent, showing the gradual turn of focus away from Asia to North America as the closure of Russian airspace and remaining effect from the Covid-19 disruption still dominate.
European cargo was also up by 526 percent, y-o-y, to 1,937 tonnes in September and by 806.6 percent to 16,36 tonnes in the first nine months of this year.
In total, Finnair transported 91,987 tonnes of cargo in Jan-Sep 2022, an increase by 45.2 percent, y-o-y.
