Oct 13, 2022 (newstodate): Among the three leading airports managed by Swedavia, Stockholm Airport remains alone in generating growth in flown cargo volumes.
In September '22, Stockholm Airport handled a total of 8,294 tonnes of flown cargo, excluding mail and trucked cargo.
This was actually slightly down by 0.1 percent, y-o-y, but the airport is still up 8.6 percent, y-o-y, in January-September '22, with flown volumes totaling 72,348 tonnes.
While flown imports at Stockholm Arlanda in September dropped by 9.3 percent, y-o-y, to 3,163 tonnes, exports were still up by 6.5 percent to 5,130 tonnes
Looking slightly ahead, the airport may well see further growth in cargo volumes as Finnair launches daily flights between Stockholm and Doha from November 1, 2022, under a new cooperation with Qatar Airways.
The picture is less bright at Gothenburg Airport that has seen volumes down by 1.9 percent, y-o-y, in September, to 1,480 tonnes and down by 8.9 during the first nine months of this year, to 12,316 tonnes.
Finally, Malmo Airport, that has also seen volumes falling by 42.4 percent in September, to 1,254 tonnes, and by 24.2 percent in Jan-Sep '22 to 12.558 tonnes, primarily due to FedEx's acquisition of TNT which shifted cargo to Copenhagen Airport instead.
