Oct 17, 2022 (newstodate): The Icelandic cargo carrier Bluebird Nordic has now taken delivery of its fourth Boeing 737-800 converted freighter.
Like the three earlier deliveries, the new aircraft is placed under an agreement with the Avia Solutions Group's AviaAM Leasing after completion of P2F conversion works by Boeing at Taikoo Aircraft Engineering Company Limited facility in Jinan, China.
The first Boeing 737-800 converted freighter was delivered to Bluebird Nordic in October 2021 after undergoing cargo conversion at Taikoo Aircraft Engineering Company, followed by a C-check performed by FL Technics and repainting by MAAS Aviation, both at Lithuania's Kaunas Airport; the second aircraft followed in February 2022, and the third only in August 2022.
A member of the Avia Solutions Group, Bluebird Nordic plans to take in a total of 25 Boeing 737-800 converted freighters till 2024, adding to its existing fleet comprising one Boeing 737-300, seven Boeing 737-400 freighters and now four Boeing 737-800 - with four more of this latter type to arrive before the end of this year.
In September 2022, Bluebird Nordic announced a fresh wet-lease contract with the Dominican Republic's airline Sky Cana.
Under the contract running for one year, Bluebird Nordic will place two Boeing 737-800 converted freighters with Sky Cana for cargo flights connecting the USA and destinations in the Caribbeans.
In August 2022, Bluebird Nordic named a new CEO: Audrone Keinyte, taking over from Siggi Agustsson who served in the position since 2020 and now continuing as a senior advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Avia Solutions Group, owner of Bluebird Nordic.
