Jan 13, 2022 (newstodate): The Swedish carrier Amapola will soon see the end of its operation in Ireland.
With the first flight on July 26, 2021, Amapola has been serving the route connecting Dublin Airport and Donegal State - a PSO route that lost its operator when Stobart Air folded its wings.
The PSO contract covers a seven-months period, with two daily rotations between the two cities served with the airline's Fokker 50 aircraft - and this PSO contract is due to expire by February 25, 2022.
While Amapola might have hoped for an extension of the contract, it has instead been given to the new Irish carrier Emerald Airlines, an Aer Lingus Regional franchise operator since August 2021, landing its AOC in September 2021 now with two ATR72-600 aircraft in the fleet.
