Jan 21, 2022 (newstodate): Sweden's Gothenburg Airport saw flown cargo volumes declining in 2021 due to the sustained scarcity of belly capacity as passenger traffic dipped.
A total of 18,242 tonnes of flown cargo was handled in 2021, down 7.3 percent, y-o-y.
Import volumes did grow modestly by 1.1 percent to 10,364 tonnes, but on the negative side exports declined by a hefty 16.4 percent to only 7,875 tonnes.
Of the total volume handled, international cargo with 17,938 tonnes was the largest post, with imports accounting for 10,135 tonnes in 2021.
In 2021, Spirit Air Cargo Handling left the cargo handling market at Sweden's Gothenburg Airport from October 1.
After this, cargo handling is now provided only by GLA Aircargo with Bo Lundberg as Managing Director.
