Jan 11, 2022 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic is steadily building up its aircraft fleet and manpower.
In 2022, the airline will take in eight new Airbus A220-300 aircraft to bring the total number to 40 before the end of the year, after receiving seven units in 2021.
airBaltic is also actively recruiting new staff, currently having more than 40 open vacancies, and seeking more than 400 additional employees in total.
Part of the growth in staff also derives from airBaltic's take-over of own passenger handling at Riga Airport from January 1, 2022, after abrogating the earlier contract with Havas in effect since April 12, 2010.
On airBaltic's roster are now 1,588 staff after having hired 239 operations and maintenance personnel, 174 cabin crew and 62 pilots in 2021.
