Jan 06, 2022 (newstodate): The Icelandic charter and ACMI cargo carrier Bluebird Nordic, member of the Avia Solutions Group, is to add its first wide-body freighter capacity.
Bluebird Nordic has thus signed lease agreements with Dublin-based lessor STLC Europe Twenty Five Leasing Ltd for two Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft to be converted to cargo versions and offered in the airfreight market by 2024.
Till then, the aircraft will be used by ASG member companies for passenger and all-cargo operations.
As earlier reported, Bluebird Nordic is also to take in 25 Boeing 737-800 converted freighters till 2024, adding to its existing fleet comprising one Boeing 737-300 and seven Boeing 737-400 freighters.
On January 24, 2020, Lithuania's Avia Solutions Group signed an agreement with Bluebird Nordic's former owner, BB Holding to acquire all shares in Bluebird Nordic that continues trading under its own brand - now strongly boosted by its new owner's capital muscles.
