Jan 24, 2022 (newstodate): Icelandair is keen to develop its flights operations from USA to other markets in the region.
As a first, Icelandair had successfully obtained approval by the US Department of Transportation to operate a series of 14 flights from Orlando to Cuba in the period October-December 2021; next, Icelandair has now been approved to operate a new series of flights to Havana from Miami and Houston starting from February 2022 with a total of 170 rotations and up to 10 weekly flights.

Icelandair will perform the flights with Boeing 757-200 aircraft on behalf of US travel companies like Anmart Superior Travel in the case of the Cuban operations.
Not unexpectedly, several US carriers have protested against DOT's approval of the Icelandair flights - but to no avail...
