Jan 19, 2022 (newstodate): As expected, several US airlines are protesting vehemently against the approval of Icelandair flights between the USA and Cuba.
On January 13, 2022, Icelandair received the US DOT's approval of its application to be allowed to operate 170 rotations between Havana in Cuba and Miami, Orlando and Houston in the United States.
This has produced strong protests from US airlines Swift Air, World Atlantic Airlines and Global Crossing Airlines - but Icelandair is now permitted to operate a series of 170 flights between February 1 and May 3, 2022.
Icelandair will perform the flights with Boeing 757-200 aircraft on behalf of the US travel company Anmart Superior Travel.
