Jan 11, 2022 (newstodate): As part of its strategy of growth, Heston MRO has now announced the acquisition of the Australian MRO provider Cairns MRO, today owned by Jet Aviation.
Pending completion of the standard pre-closing procedures, the take-over will take effect by the end of Q1 2022, with the Cairns facility to operate under Heston MRO's brand, bringing in some 150 employees and contractors, housed in 5,400 m2 facility.
-Once the transaction is complete, Heston MRO will be offering Line, Base, Components, Engines MRO capabilities, as well as Technical Training and other services covering the full suite of aircraft types, from smaller regionals like ATR and Dash 8 Q400, narrow bodies like B737 and A320s, to large wide bodies like B777, B787, A350, and A380 aircraft, says Jonas Butautis, Director and Partner at Heston MRO.
Heston began operations in 1992 as Aircraft Maintenance Services Australia, providing line maintenance to international carriers flying into Australia.
In 2007, AMSA became part of Singapore Airlines Engineering, before the latter divested its ownership in 2018. The company was then rebranded to become Heston MRO in early 2019, after being bought over by Heston Aviation in December 2018.
In September 202, the newly established subsidiary Heston MRO Europe started offering Components Support and Asset Management services to airlines and asset owners, planning to operate local European warehouses and have AOG support and logistics teams located next to its European customers and suppliers.
-Based in Lithuania, Heston MRO Europe will aim to service operators and asset owners in EMEA and CIS markets, says Kestutis Volungevicius, Heston MRO Europe CEO.
-Having started with Components and Asset Management solutions, we aim for organic customer driven expansion into other adjacent MRO offerings like engineering services, engines solutions, and other technical support services.
