Jan 10, 2022 (newstodate): Finland's Helsinki Airport saw its total cargo volumes rising in January-November 2021, the last period so far accounted for.
A total of 153,627 tonnes of cargo, domestic and international cargo and mail included, was handled which is an increase by 19 percent, y-o-y.
Securing the growth was international cargo and mail that were up 19.6 percent, y-o-y, to 152,536 tonnes in the period.
Prospects for sustained recovery will rise as the airport's lead customer, Finnair continues to rebuild its long haul flights network.
From November 2, 2021, the carrier returned flights on the route from Helsinki to Guangzhou with two weekly rotations, and flights from Helsinki to Nanjing were resumed from November 9, also with two weekly rotations - both routes served with Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
Earlier, in October Finnair also returned on its route to Beijing with two weekly rotations, while flights to Shanghai have been increased to seven weekly rotations in W'21.
