Jan 18, 2022 (newstodate): Finland's Helsinki Airport rounded off 2021 with a cargo growth at 23.3 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 176,441 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport in January-December 2021, against 143,054 tonnes in 2020 when volumes dipped 38.4 percent, y-o-y, due to the shortfall of international traffic as borders closed, and international cargo and mail volumes fell to only 39,703 tonnes in 2020 against 227,831 tonnes in the previous year.
In 2021, international cargo and mail accrued to 175,125 tonnes - an increase by 23.8 percent, y-o-y, but still a far cry from pre-Covid levels.
