Jan 13, 2022 (newstodate): A surge in the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in a significant increase of sick leave among staff at Finnair and its partners is forcing Finnair to cut some 20 percent of its flights schedule.
The majority of the cancelled flights are on routes such as Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Paris and Oslo, where Finnair operates multiple daily flights, and passengers can thus find alternative departures.
However, changes will also affect Finnair's long-haul flights
The inaugural of Finnair’s new Dallas service will move from February to March 27, 2022, and the start of the Nagoya flights, and introduction of added frequencies to Osaka, will move to the summer season 2022.
Finnair will also reduce weekly frequencies to Singapore to twice a week, and to Hong Kong to three.
On top of this disruption, Finnair is also preparing to meet the effects from a strike announced by the Finnish labor union Pro for January 17, 2022. Finnair is not a party in the dispute between the two labor unions, but any strike action might still have an impact on Finnair's aircraft maintenance.
