Based at Kaliningrad, the carrier is facing a growing debts pile and has been placed under supervision till June 2022, awaiting the final outcome of efforts of reconstruction - or bankruptcy.
Set up in 2000, the airline received its AOC on February 23, 2001, and grew into a leading helicopter company, soon operating beyond Russia on UN missions and for firefighting in Greece and other countries,.
With a fleet of four fixed-wing and 39 rotary-wing aircraft, Skol Airlines also became one of Russia's four largest providers of air uplift for Russia's medical services from 2018.
In November 2021, the latest new EU black list added Skol Airlnes due to concerns about its ability to comply with international standards.
