   This again raised the bar after the earlier record year, 2019, when the airport handled 74,064 tonnes of cargo, continuing the sustained trend of annual cargo records since 2016, while 2020 ended with 67,149 tonnes, down 9.3 percent, y-o-y, reflecting the impact of the Covid-19 spread.
   In January-December 2021, Billund Airport saw imports down 9.9 percent, y-o-y, to 18,862 tonnes as volumes of PPE that weighed heavily in 2020 gradually disappeared over the last year.
   Boosting volumes in 2021 were exports that increased by a hefty 26.5 percent, y-o-y, to 58.288 tonnes, reflecting the sustained upturn in Danish exports.
