Sep 06, 2021 (newstodate): The Norwegian regional carrier Wideroe has contracted the Finnish regional carrier Norra, a carrier in the Finnair Group, to operate on domestic routes in Norway.
The wet-lease contract seems a win-win solution: the Finnair Group is keen to find alternative revenue streams and keep its aircraft busy in a home market still far from recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic: and Wideroe is growing faster than anticipated in its home market, creating a need for extra capacity.
Wideroe is thus to operate two Norra ATR 72-500 aircraft on five domestic routes in Norway, equalling some 300 monthly flights with Norra cockpit and cabin crews.
In the fleet of Norra, managed by Janne Tarvainen as CEO, are 12 Embraer E-190 and 12 ATR 72-500 aircraft.
