Sep 30, 2021 (newstodate): The new leadership in Afghanistan is eager to see the return of air traffic by foreign carriers to Kabul airport.
   Today, only domestic flights and a very limited international traffic are operating at the airport that is supported by  one ATM tower with only partial approach services.
   ICAO has said that although NOTAMS are now issued, their quality and distribution is varying and hardly reliable for operations.
   A specialist team from Qatar is currently assisting the Taliban in assessing the capacities of Kabul Airport and draw up a plan for measures required to return the airport to normal operations according to ICAO standards.
