Sep 16, 2021 (newstodate) Now it's a fact: the Lufthansa Group member Eurowings is indeed establishing a new base at Stockholm Airport!
News evaporated prematurely on the carrier's booking site, but are now confirmed: Eurowings will base five Airbus A320 aircraft and 150 crew members at Stockholm Airport from March 2022.
Starting out on March 27, 2022, Eurowings will be operating low-cost flights on 20 routes, and the first published routes to and from Stockholm include destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Alicante and Malaga, Faro, Nice, as well as Berlin, Barcelona, Rome, Copenhagen, Birmingham, Gdansk, and Pristina, with further new destinations to be announced in the coming weeks.
Stockholm Airport will be the 11th Eurowings base of operations in Europe, and the 5th outside its home market of Germany, after Palma de Mallorca, Prague, Pristina, and Salzburg.
For Stockholm Airport, Eurowings is the third airline in 2021 to set up a base at Arlanda within a short time, following Ryanair from the start of the coming winter 2021/22 schedule, allocating two aircraft, and Finnair from this winter offering a long-haul flights program to the USA, Thailand and other leisure destinations.
