Sep 30, 2021 (newstodate): Since 2019, the Volga-Dnepr Group's Atran Airlines has been a steady operator at Latvia's Riga Airport.
On September 29, 2021, the carrier performed its 1,000th operation at the airport with the Boeing 737-800BCF freighter bringing in another 20 tonnes of e-trade shipments from China.
On May 9, 2019, Atran Airlines started out with a weekly Boeing 737-800BCF flight between Riga and Moscow Airport, feeding via Moscow onto the Group's freighter service to Hangzhou, and providing up to 23 tonnes of cargo capacity to Riga for e-commerce shipments from Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group.
To this operation was then added the new service launched on September 18, 2021, by the Lithuanian e-trade logistics provider Venipak offering one weekly direct rotation between Riga and Hong Kong with Atran Air's Boeing 737-800BCF.
Expectations are that a second rotation on this route will be added already by mid-October 2021
