Sep 06, 2021 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport will see the launch of a new regular freighter service from Hong Kong, with the first flight on September 18, 2021.
Driving the project is the Lithuanian e-trade logistics provider Venipak, with own offices in China and Hong Kong.
Venipak will initially be offering a weekly rotation with a Boeing 737-800BCF operated by the Russian carrier Atran Airlines, capable of lifting some 20 tonnes of cargo on non-stop direct flights between Hong Kong and Riga.
-The operation will be offered in both the B2B and B2C segments, and plans are to add a second rotation at a later stage as warranted by demands in the market, says Asta Raudoniene, Venipak Head of Marketing/Global.
Venipak sales in China is provided by Kales Hong Kong as its GSSA; sales in the Baltic markets is provided by Strike Aviation, while Kales Poland is serving as Venipak's cargo GSSA in the Polish market.
Connecting to the flight operations at Riga Airport, Venipak is also providing trucking services to neighboring markets in Lithuania and Estonia, as well as to Warsaw and Helsinki.
Atran Airlines has been a frequent visitor at Riga Airport; from May 2019, Atran introduced a weekly freighter flight between Hangzhou, in China, and Riga Airport via Moscow Vnukovo Airport carrying e-commerce shipments from Cainiao Network, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, and from May 2020 going up to five weekly rotations.
