Sep 17, 2021 (newstodate): The country's largest regional cargo airport, Poland's Katowice Airport, is seeing a sustained and brisk rise in cargo volumes.
In August 2021, the airport's total cargo volumes were 2,973 tonnes, an increase by 76.2 percent, y-o-y.
In 2020, the airport generated a total of 20,369 tonnes of cargo, setting a new record estimated to break again this year by reaching, or even exceeding, 30,000 tonnes.
The airport plays a strong role in the regional e-cargo market, with currently 10 scheduled connecting to cargo hubs and other airports served by integrators UPS, FedEx and DHL, as well as Lufthansa Cargo and airlines operating for Amazon.
Katowice Airport benefits from its location ideally suited to provide coverage of southern Poland as well as parts of Bohemia and Slovakia.
