Sep 29, 2021 (newstodate): The new Norwegian long-haul carrier Norse Atlantic Airways has now applied with the DOT for approval of flights to North America from summer 2022.
The application comprises planned flights from Oslo to Fort Lauderdale, New York Stewart International Airport 60 miles north of Manhattan, and Ontario International Airport, in Southern California - all secondary airports serving major destinations at competitive airport charges.
Earlier aiming at launch of services by December 2021, already, plans are now to see start of services by late Q1/2022 or early Q2, 2022, ending up with all 15 Boeing 787-8 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft in the air during next year's summer season.
Flights will be offered between Europe and the USA, with European bases at Oslo, London and Paris connecting to US destinations.
Norse Atlantic Airways is currently seeking AOCs in Norway and the UK and expects to employ some 1,600 people by summer 2022.
Earlier this month, Norse landed an agreement with the British Airline Pilots Association as part of efforts to secure a smooth entry on the market.
