Sep 02, 2021 (newstodate): While air traffic is slowly recovering after the lockdowns and restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic, little optimism reign over prospects for a profitable winter season.
As one example, Norwegian has aired its intentions of parking more aircraft during the winter schedule to adjust service costs and reining in on cabin crews.
In this summer schedule, Norwegian has been operating 32 aircraft while keeping another 19 aircraft on the ground; ambitions are to be operating between 60 and 70 aircraft in summer 2022 - but during the coming winter 2021/22, capacity will be reduced by 25-40 percent in an effort to save costs.
