Sep 06, 2021 (newstodate): Lithuania's Palanga International Airport has now embarked on a major reconstruction project comprising the 2,280m runway, taxiway and apron and new LED lighting systems.
The last flight, a Norwegian service, was performed late Sunday, September 5, 2021, and the airport has now been closed for 45 days allowing for the comprehensive reconstruction works.
The public procurement for reconstruction of the runway at Palanga Airport, announced by Lithuanian Airports in autumn 2020, was won by the Latvian company A.C.B, that has similar experience from reconstruction of the runway of Vilnius Airport in 2017.
Together with Vilnius Airport and Kaunas Airport, Palanga Airport is managed by the state enterprise Lithuanian Airports.
