Sep 01, 2021 (newstodate): Icelandair is seeing recovery in the air traffic market - but at a slower pace than anticipated and planned for.
In its Q2/2021 report, Icelandair expected to see capacity in the Q4/21 to reach 70-80 percent of the company's 2019 production - but this target has now been revised.
-The current status of the pandemic and continued travel restrictions have resulted in slightly lower demand than anticipated, the Icelandair Group says in a stock market release out today.
A steady ramp-up is still expected to continue through Q4 and into 2022, and the company’s winter schedule currently counts for capacity of around 65 percent of its 2019 production, going up to some 75 percent of its 2019 capacity in Q1/2022.
-In comparison, the capacity level in August was 50 percent of the capacity level in August 2019, the release reads.
Icelandair has thus now adjusted its winter schedule for 2021-2022 with 25 destinations in its international network, in Europe and North America, and 160 departures a week from Iceland during the period.
