Sep 21, 2021 (newstodate): Qatar Airways has just rounded the 10th anniversary of services to Sofia, Bulgaria.
   The route to Sofia was launched on September 14, 2011, with four weekly rotations using airbus A319 aircraft via Bucharest, served since Jan 17, 2011, as the airline's first new route into the Central European markets.
   Since the start at Sofia, the routing has changed several times, for a period with Belgrade serving as an intermediate stop and with varying frequencies - and prior to the pandemic, the route was even served double-daily.
   After the lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, the route was reopened again in October 2020, and from December 16, 2021, Qatar Airways will be providing four weekly non-stop rotations between Sofia and Qatar with Airbus A320 aircraft.
